Sergiu obtained his M.Sc. in physics from the University of Bucharest, Romania, and his Ph.D. in physics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He has worked for the International Atomic Energy Agency and in private industry. He did postdoctoral research in computational quantum field theory at Brookhaven National Laboratory and at the Florida State University. He joined the PSC in 1995 and became its director for user support in 1999. He currently serves as the Principal Investigator of the Bridges-2 project (https://www.psc.edu/resources/bridges-2/) and as co- Principal Investigator of the Neocortex project (https://www.cmu.edu/psc/aibd/neocortex/).

Research Interests

Quantum field theory, atmospheric physics, complex systems, social systems, computer systems, software systems, visualization.
