Kasia earned her M.S. in biophysics from Jagiellonian University and her B.E. in biomedical engineering from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland. She completed her Ph.D. at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam, focusing on advanced microscopy and cell signaling.
Kasia’s career as a biologist was always a thinly veiled excuse to spend more time with complex algorithms and data pipelines. After years of this “side-hustle” as a CZI Imaging Scientist and Assistant Professor, she decided to make it official, joining the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center in 2026 to focus full-time on the intersection of AI, machine learning, and HPC to accelerate scientific discovery.

General Interests
If not in front of a computer, Kasia is likely reading non-fiction, walking her husky, Marvin, or baking sourdough bread. She is an enthusiast of ecological gardening who attempts to befriend the local groundhogs. She will also drop anything to discuss the possibilities of communicating with whales!
