PSC user Francis Halzen has been awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize for Physics!
The Nobel Committee honored Halzen for his groundbreaking work to detect cosmic neutrinos, strange subatomic particles that dash through the Universe almost unaffected by regular matter. PSC is proud to support his work to create and use the IceCube Neutrino Observatory in Antarctica to map out our Milky Way galaxy — and more. It’s the first time scientists have used a method to map our galaxy that doesn’t rely on electromagnetic waves.
