Sweetening the Pot for Big Data

Save the date! On April 13, PSC will host DISCOVER12, an open house where you can mingle, talk to our experts about high-performance computing, AND watch giant black holes form. This year we’re talking about big data and how we can help you keep your data safe and close at hand, and put it to work for you when you are ready.

We’ll be featuring some projects that have made good use of the power of our SGI UV system, Blacklight – the world’s largest shared memory computer. Here are some of the goodies we have for you:

For scientists, budding scientists, and science lovers of all stripes:
See the range of things that Blacklight has made possible, like stitching together over 100 terabytes of data to map neural connections in the brain; predicting which of today’s publications will be most influential; and solving the mystery of how giant black holes formed so early in the universe’s development.

For corporate types: Learn how PSC expertise can help you streamline your digital modeling and how we can help you get the most out of your data.

For K-12 educators: Discover the programs we offer to enhance your science curriculum. We realize that today’s awesome scientists did not spring full-formed from Einstein’s head. Behind each of them is at least one great teacher. If you teach any grade from Kindergarten to 12, come and talk to us about our educational offerings.

This will be our sweetest open house ever! Read more about it at www.psc.edu/discover12. Be sure to vote for your favorite candy when you reserve your spot online.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
