Lt. Governor Cawley to Speak at PSC on State’s Future as Technological Hub

Monday, Aug. 25, 2014

Tomorrow Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley will visit the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC). Cawley will speak on the state’s future as a technological hub and PSC’s role in bolstering state and regional high performance computing capabilities; high-speed electronic networking; and science, technology, engineering and math education from the high school to graduate study levels.

The Lieutenant Governor will address PSC staff at 11:30 a.m. EDT, in a lunch session that is open to the press.

Jim Cawley has served Pennsylvania as Lieutenant Governor since January 2011. In this role he has chaired the Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission, whose recommendations became the basis for the historic, comprehensive law known as Act 13 of 2012. Following the devastating floods from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee in 2011, the Governor asked Cawley to lead the disaster recovery task force, bringing together several state agencies and coordinated response efforts between the federal, state and local emergency management agencies in 20 different counties. Cawley also chairs the Military Community Protection Commission, which advocates for Pennsylvania’s military installations and the important role they play in the state economy and national security.
