HPCC Grand Challenge

Under the federal High Performance Computing Act of 1991, a multi-agency group of federal agencies provides funding to support "Grand Challenge" research projects. These projects address complex scientific and engineering problems that have broad social impact and whose solutions can be advanced through high-performance computing and communications (HPCC). Examples of HPCC grand challenges include global climate change, weather forecasting, evolution and structure of the cosmos, and design of new drug therapies.
