Paul Durbin and colleagues simulated "wake induced transition" from smooth to turbulent flow along a rotor blade surface. As flow goes from blade to blade the wake from upstream blades strikes downstream rotors, disrupting smooth flow along the rotor surface, creating complex and unstable flows.
