PSC's Stiles Co-Authors New Findings on NeuronsPSC scientist Joel Stiles co-authored a paper in the current issue of SCIENCE ( July 15, 2005) reporting new findings about how neurotransmitters release in the synapses of the ciliary ganglion. Simulations with MCell, software that Stiles developed with Thomas Bartol of the Salk Institute, produced detailed information that expands on laboratory findings. The results were visualized with DReaMM, visualization software created by Stiles. A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette science feature by science editor Byron Spice describes the new findings.
