So, the next thing that Mike and Ralph discussed was who might want to use it. Ralph had already established a Certificate Program in Scientific Computing in Physics and knew a large number of colleagues within the scientific community so he proceeded to contact them as prospective users. They obliged with many letters of support for their proposal. Later he used these connections to formulate the National Allocation Committee to help advise on how to select projects to use PSC and other NSF computing facilities.
It is my pleasure to present Super Science Supporter Ralph Roskies, Co-founder and Scientific Director of PSC, and Professor of Physics at the University of Pittsburgh.
