Big Turnout for PSC's Discover 09 Open House

PITTSBURGH, January 29, 2009 - With a turnout of 131 people, including students and teachers from local universities, governmental organizations and others interested in computational science, the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center's Discover 09 Open House met its goal of introducing high-performance computing to a wide regional audience.

Live from Pittsburgh to Abu Dhabi: First International TelePresence Session via NLR

PITTSBURGH, April 16, 2009 - On April 14, National LambdaRail (NLR) announced successful completion of the world's first international TelePresence session over research and education networks. NLR and ANKABUT, a science initiative of the United Arab Emirates, demonstrated the Cisco Systems technology with a live demonstration between PSC and the campus of Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research in Abu Dhabi.

Social Security Number Vulnerability Findings Relied on Supercomputing

Access to a large-scale parallel system at Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center made it possible to overcome difficulties and greatly accelerated time to solution.
