PSC User DiMatteo featured on NOVA

PITTSBURGH, September 25, 2008 - ”The science television program NOVA has featured PSC user Tiziana DiMatteo. A NOVA show titled "Monster of the Milky Way" features DiMatteo discussing her simulation of a collision between the Andromeda and Milky Way galaxies and the super-massive black hole that would form as a result of this event in the distant future. The show, which aired originally in October 2006, re-aired this month on PBS.

DiMatteo's more recent PSC simulations that for the first time include the physics of black holes in a large-scale cosmic simulation and arrive at new findings about the relationship between cosmic structure and black holes are described in PSC's Projects in Scientific Computing, here.
