AFS klog command
When you want to use files in PSC's AFS cell psc.edu, you must authenticate (identify) yourself to the cell by giving your AFS password. When you do this, you receive an AFS token that grants you your AFS permissions.Your login password on most PSC UNIX machines is the same as your AFS password. This means that you are usually automatically authenticated to AFS when you login. The exception is on the J90s, where you have both a login and an AFS password. If the two match, you are automatically authenticated at login. If the two don't match, you must authenticate yourself by executing the command:
klog
You will be prompted for your AFS password and then given a token. If you want a token with a lifetime longer than the default, specify the -lifetime switch, followed by a number of hours. 250 is currently the largest that can be specified:
klog -lifetime 250
You can also authenticate yourself to remote AFS cells by specifying the remote cell:
klog username@cell-name
Please note that before you can successfully authenticate yourself to a remote cell, the foreign cell must be on your Cache Manager's foreign cell list (this must be done by the foreign cell's System Administrator).
