david's page

David filled his personal web page with his art, intellect and humor.

Encouraging. Humorous. Energetic. Those are all words I would use to describe David as I knew him. I was an undergraduate student strong in the natural sciences and humanities but with a courseload too full to fit any computer science courses. Eager to learn and with a passion for the biomedical sciences, Hugh Nicholas, David Deerfield, and Alex Ropelewski took me under their wing and allowed me to work with them as a student worker. I learned a lot from them, not just about programming and computer science, but also about teamwork and professional camaraderie amongst your colleagues.

David was always encouraging and full of advice. As I and two other student workers laughed and cracked jokes as we worked, he would always stop and join in. When I got married, I knew I wanted my PSC friends to join me in celebrating that day. David’s cheer made it that more special. Even if he was extra cheerful because of the maki-roll station. He was even adventurous enough to attend my co-ed baby shower and actually showed up with an exersaucer. I always knew he was special, but that sealed the deal.

David will surely be missed by me and my family, but I am glad I met him and had the opportunity to create such fond memories.
