David filled his personal web page with his art, intellect and humor.

I’ve only had a few conversations with David, but they went deep. One in particular was about how to show respect for your wife. Although he was unmarried at the time, David gave me very good advice, which started with the questions: “Do you value your wife?” “Then what have you done about her IRA?” When I said that she would be covered on mine, he pressed the point that if her continuing contributions to our family are of value, then they should be recognized as such independent of me and my future. That really made me re-think things, and when I returned home I totaled up the wages over the years and offered that to my wife as part of her retirement. She didn’t take me up on the offer, but the conversation and the intention really made a difference in how valued she felt. And several times since, it has empowered her to say things like “Well, if I really want that, I’ll just spend my ‘retirement savings’ on it!”
