This is an interactive, multimedia collection of articles highlighting research at Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center. The articles communicate at a non-specialist level. Much of the research bears on scientific questions having broad social impact, such as heart disease and global climate change. All articles report on projects that have advanced scientific understanding and that could not have been done without supercomputing.

The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center is a joint effort of Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh together with the Westinghouse Electric Company. It was established in 1986 and is supported by several federal agencies, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and private industry.
